The Trans/Act system is an expandable hardware/software combination of modified low-cost off-the-shelf components that will provide producing theatre companies with the ability integrate high-end show control into performance. The techniques researched will result in single-action automation and execution of lighting, sound, video and physical elements. Furthermore, Trans/Act is a two-way system that allows, through interfacing various sensors, physical action on stage to execute cues and synchronize technical elements resulting in an innovative new way to explore narrative and improvisational performance. This proposal encompasses the construction of a fully functional base system and testing its use in performance

The Trans/Act system has been submitted for funding consideration and status of the study will be posted in the news.
