Cap de Creus

Cap de Creus is a gorgeous area in the Catalunya region, located in the far northeastern corner of Spain along the Mediterranean. The area has fantastic scenery and geologic structures! Here is just a small taste.

Shear Bands.

Jordi Carreras shows some retrograde shear zones (large lozenge of lesser deformed rocks are surrounded by shear zones).

Dyanna and her favorite lozenge.

Tiny crenulations.

White bands of syndeformational dikes within the gray country rocks.

Folded and rotated quartz vein.

Geology with a view!

Ah... the Mediterranean.

The town of Cadeques, our "base camp." Such hardship.
