Romania Research Experience for Students

Project Overview:

The Development of Biological Indicators of Environmental Stress and Sustainable Development in the Danube Delta, Romania

This project establishes an undergraduate research experience program in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve along the Black Sea Coast. Over a six week stay in Romania, participants develop their understanding of human-environment interactions in a location at the historical, cultural, economic and environmental crossroads of Southeastern Europe and Asia.

Students work as part of interdisciplinary research teams together with Romanian students and researchers to examine the relationships between environmental stressors, ecological integrity and the human contexts of sustainable development within one of the most distinctive wetland ecosystems in the northern hemisphere.
