Clean Water Kiosks

The goal of this project is to provide water quality data and educational information to the public in the greater Milwaukee area, in order to make the public more aware of water quality problems and what can be done to improve them. Two public-access kiosks are being installed, one in the Historic Third Ward district of downtown Milwaukee, and one in the Urban Ecology Center. These kiosks will provide near-real-time water quality data from various river locations and from the Milwaukee Harbor. In addition, the touch-screen kiosks will provide interactive educational content which will introduce users to critical concepts related to water quality, and demonstrate how the actions of individuals can make a difference.

This project is supported by the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program, and is being carried out in collaboration with Menomonee Valley Partners, the UWM Department of Biological Sciences, the Sixteenth Street Community Health Center, Pier Wisconsin, and the Urban Ecology Center.
