Text Book Title: “APPLIED SOIL MECHANICS with ABAQUS Applications” by Sam Helwany. John Wiley & Sons, 2007, 400 pages. The book is for undergraduate students majoring in civil/geotechnical engineering. The book consists of nine Chapters covering all aspects of geotechnical engineering. The applications in the book combine finite element analysis with traditional analytical solutions, such as Terzaghi’s solution of 1-D consolidation, in such a manner that the reader will gain better understanding of soil mechanics and its traditional analytical solutions.
