The Student Investment Club at UWM where students invest real money. The weekly club meetings expand the knowledge and understanding of its members in the areas of investing, finance, and the economy. Professors Der-Ann Hsu and Dick Marcus are the founding Faculty Advisors of the club and Professor Kevin Spellman is also an advisor.
The Burrahobbit Book Club is a group of enthusiastic readers of current and classic fantasy that is in its 26th year. The link includes the books that the club has read since 2001, which covers everything in fantasy from from a Middle English poem on Sir Gawain and the Green Knight from 1400 to the latest Neil Gaiman story.
The Midwest Vocal Express is a chorus that competes in international competitions. The chorus has ranked in the top fifteen international choruses for the last eleven years, winning bronze medals in 2003 and 2006. The style of music is a cappella, including barbershop four part harmonies. I was MVE Chapter Secretary from 2006-2009. We have been green plastic army men, penguins, fish in an aquarium, Pinocchio, guys attending a 1926 County Fair, and many other ways of storytelling through song. I bet you can't pick me out in my Penguin costume below, but I'm there! In 2010 in Philadelphia, we did a set based on the summer Olympics.
The George Washington 1776 Lodge is in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. I am currently webmaster. I was master of the lodge in 2005 and in 2007.
The North Shore Presbyterian Church is in Shorewood near Oakland and Capital, behind the Sendik's parking lot. My wife Kandy and I have been members for the last 25 years.
Univerisity Christian Ministeries, or UCM for short, serves students of UWM by making faith-building activities and fellowship available. UCM has a house located on Kenwood Ave. across from the UWM Union. UCM is made possible through the ecumenical cooperation of the American Baptist Church, the Episcopal Diocese of Greater Milwaukee, the Presbyterian Church (USA), the United Church of Christ, and the United Methodist Church. I was on the board of UCM as a Presbyterian lay person for three years, and now I help out occassionally with the Wednesday lunch bunch.
The Village of Fox Point A link to municipal activities on the North Shore. I served as a trustee for three terms in the 1990s. I was a member of the Fox Point Water and Sewer Utility Committee until 2007. At this site is a link to the Fox Point Foundation.
The Fox Point Foundation raises funds to improve the beauty and community spirit in the Village of Fox Point. Recent projects include the Fox Point Farmers Market, accessible playground equipment in the Indian Creek Park, a new fence for the abandoned Old Dutch cemetary near Doctor's Park, and reading programs for kids at the North Shore Library. I served for six years ending in 2005 as the Secretary of the Foundataion. I continued as webmaster for the Foundation from 2003-March 2007.
