I am a cultural anthropologist at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with research experience in Italy and Romania. I am particularly concerned with the larger political-economic context of sustainable development in the European Union, and with regional and scientific partnerships for environmental security in the Mediterranean Sea. This research is not simply about ecological issues, but also about evolving cultural-political imaginaries and the processes that reproduce race and marginality within the contexts of Southern Europe. My ongoing ethnographic projects are broadly related to the future of agro-pastoral systems, food systems, water, climate and biodiversity.
